Why Michael Bay Rejected His G1 Color in Transformers 2. 1 of the biggest criticisms towards the Bay Transformers would have to be the way they look. While the characters look realistic and like they could fit in the real world. Longtime fans felt like they were a huge deviation from the Autobots and Decepticons they grew up watching. And they felt like complex designs made the action hard to follow. But many have expressed that they would have embraced the designs more had they used their G1 accurate colors. Because that would have at least made it easier to recognize them. And 1 character who would have benefited from it the most was Sideswipe. An Autobot that kids used to get confused with Jazz because they shared a silver color scheme. But in an earlier draft of Revenge of the Fallen, Sideswipe was originally meant to have a red color scheme much like his G1 portrayal, but Michael Bay rejected this concept. The reason being that he felt red didn’t translate on film at the time. Thankfully cameras improved and used a red Autobot in the form of Dino.
