There was a scene included in the trailer of Jason and Kimberly kissing, but it ended up getting cut after test audiences stated that they felt it put too much focus on their romance which opposed Kimberly’s redemption story. In the end, they focused on her redemption story and removed the kiss. When it comes to referencing the original material, they decided to go a different way though. In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, each of the five Rangers have a custom weapon that can combine to form a more powerful weapon. Here, Jason is the only one to wield such a weapon. The crew decided that they had to cut the other weapons out for running time purposes.
