Brendan Fraser had to wear a very heavy prosthetic suit to show the character’s severe weight, and he managed to develop muscles he didn’t even know he had. He also mentioned that he suffered from a sense of vertigo at the end of the day when they removed everything. It helped him develop a new respect for people who have larger bodies. He has mentioned that this humbling experience has given his character a whole new sense of realism, and it seems to have paid off. After the debut screening, the movie and Brendan received a six-minute standing ovation that brought Fraser to tears.
