Diddy Kong Racing Multiplayer Battle 2
11Another quick multiplayer round of one of the battle modes in Diddy Kong Racing for the Nintendo 64 by Rare. Diddy Kong (MacDaddyNook), Banjo (SunBurntKen), Tiptup (Duck) and Timber (AI) collect the bananas scattered about Smokey Castle.
Smokey Castle is the Dragon Forest's battle stage. Rather than fight it out like in Darkwater Beach, the goal of Smokey Castle is to collect bananas scattered about the stage and deposit them into the chest matching your character's portrait. Players can only carry up to two bananas at a time, so they will have to drop them off to obtain more. Additionally, item balloons are scattered about as well; in which players can blast each other to make their opponents lose bananas and possibly steal the lost bananas.
There is an interesting glitch that occurs when a player drives off one of the bridges crossing over the moat. For some strange reason, the character will remain attached to the bridge and can slowly hover over the water. It's possible to cross the bridge underneath it this way.
As stated before, all music that plays during the race was added in during post production as the Nintendo 64's hardware limitation forced the game to omit music during multiplayer races of three or more players.
