Diddy Kong Racing Multiplayer Race 3
14Part two of a set of 3-player multiplayer matches in Diddy Kong Racing for the Nintendo 64 by Rare. Bumper (MacDaddyNook), Conker (SunBurntKen) and Tiptup (Duck) race across the frozen track of Walrus Cove.
Walrus Cove is one of my favorite courses in the game. It features a loop-de-loop near the beginning of the track and sends racers through multicolored caves. Near the end of the course, players encounter a unique element from the game; ice that, rather than makes steering slippery like all other games, bounces players back onto the track.
After the race ends, like most racing games, the AI is given control of the characters. It's amusing as the AI isn't particularly bright in this game and sometimes stuggles when placed against a wall or out of bounds area.
As stated before, all music that plays during the race was added in during post production as the Nintendo 64's hardware limitation forced the game to omit music during multiplayer races of three or more players.
