Digimon Adventure (PSP, English Sub): Part 109: Crossover Dungeon 7/8 (Time-Leaping Hunters)
Tai, Agumon, and an injured Hackmon had to part ways with Mikey and his Shoutout, though they also told them of a friend that was also running around this Digital Dungeon.
They ended up running into that friend and a Digimon he had, himself, as they were BOTH already engaged against Gankuumon! They tried to fight him off, but they weren't to do anything and he ended up ran off.
When Tai remind the boy of his friend Mikey, he kinda freaked out. He and his Digimon decided to have Tai's gang go with him.
----------
This boy is named Tagiru Akashi. He and his Digimon aren't from a seperate anime series of their own. He hails from the Xros Wars/Fusion universe, but became the human protagonist of its 3rd season: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time. He is training to be a Digimon Hunter, but he tends to be a total fool.
This anime season never got localized in the US compared to the previous two Xros Wars seasons, but that also means it's probably the least-known anime series of Digimon up to this point... besides one very significant thing...
It is this Young Hunters season that first had the idea of crossing over ALL of the anime's leaders together in the first place, very close to its grand finale. This episode likely inspired this game’s final storyline, here!
Within this game, Tagiru supports Tai & Agumon by using Arresterdramon, the first Digivolved form of Gumdramon. Gumdramon never appears in that form in this game. Nontheless, Support Arresterdramon can use Focus!
----------
At the start of Area 2, Tagiru & Arresterdramon finally introduce themselves to Tai & Agumon. Tagiru is Mikey's junior, much like how Davis is to Tai, and he is training to become a Digimon Hunter.
Agumon panicked about this, until Tagiru clarified that Digimon Hunters don't hunt down other people's Digimon.
----
On the way to Area 3, HOLY SHIT NOW YOU CAN FIGHT A WILD DIABLOMON!!!
And it won't feel as easy to do so without Omnimon. Let that be obvious.
----------
At the start of Area 3, a Fake Arresterdramon appears!
Same as it ever was. Beat him up, but don't let his Ultra Counter beat you up!
----------
The Fake Arresterdramon was beaten! It seemed like everyone was ready to go home at this point, right...?
No...
Gankuumon appeared one more time, and everyone was about to fight him...
But then... Hackmon finally woke up, and... Gankuumon was happy to see him in good health. What was going on?
Apparently, that nasty counterattack Gankuumon dealt to Hackmon earlier was just a part of their daily ritual. They were actually good friends, and also training partners.
Gankuumon is actually a good guy. Moreso, he is a member of the legendary Royal Knights of the Digital World! Hackmon has been training to be as powerful as him.
But from there, we finally see why Gankuumon has brought these different leaders into this realm to begin with. An even greater, more menacing force has appeared in this area and threatens to eliminate it, which can threaten multiple dimensions. One of its steps towards this was to generate those past fake copies of the leaders' Digimon.
Gankuumon paved the way to the spatial core, where this force is waiting. In the meantime, he tasked Hackmon with leading them all to that core.
A TRUE grand finale was on the way...
