Digimon Hacker's Memory No Digivolution Part 9: Rabbit Circle Leader, Ryuji / Chitose

• Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memor...
A video combining the first three noteworthy battles from chapter 10 (all but the Eater one, which warrants a single video). Do note that I decided against including some fights that you'd consider notable intuitively, like the skirmish vs. Nokia's WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon - it was too short and basic in practice.
0:00 And then you have this anomaly. The battle starts with the opposing team potentially slept if you've gathered all the emblems in the field, which I don't see why you wouldn't, and unlike the previous rollercoaster of a battle two of the opposing Digimon are only Champion-level... and yet it takes us even longer to defeat them than the single hardest battle in the game (I think Dinobeemon's suicidal Backwater Camp support skill had something to do with amplifying all damage done and received in that fight, though).
The signature Ultimate in this fight is Crescemon, whom I was able to fully scan in another forced battle before making it here. It's a pretty mint Data-type to use when your options aren't that great - there just isn't a SkullGreymon-tier Data or Vaccine-type right now. Since it's also one of the two Data types here, I start by spamming Virus attacks, including two AoE ones, even fielding Myotismon as a magic type who doesn't deal with Crescemon's equally high INT stat (the stat also functions as a magic resistance in these games, much like old-school Pokemon before gen 2's special split).
When I've mopped the floor with two Datas, I switch in my own Datas to attack Gargomon with a 3x damage multiplier - striking effectively in both damage triangles (also including Earth beating Electric), they still don't see very big numbers considering having really high raw stats is responsible for much of the damage done.
6:56 You are forced to either fight Ryuji or Chitose here, securing the other as a partner for the duration of the fight that ensues. Ryuji seems like the easiest one of the two, despite featuring the entire Virus/Vaccine/Data triangle in his team and having an Ultimate. No matter which Digimon you use, you still risk eating a super-effective hit, and the effect is especially dramatic after Ryuji has boosted his team's attack power (and speed) and his sole Ultimate Cyberdramon has prepped itself with an Acceleration Boost. Since all we pack at that moment in time is Virus types, sure enough - our SkullGreymon falls to his signature attack.
After Dorugamon has been felled, we switch out the Virus-types in favour of some MegaKabuterimons. These have been scanned in the same dungeon and should be familiar to people who watched the OG Cyber Sleuth No Digivolution challenge as Ultimate users of a penetrating move. They may be beaten by Okuwamon who has a better stat spread (his focuses on raw physical attack, while theirs sacrifices Intelligence, which is the only stat they truly want more of as piercing attackers, to have more physical bulk), but for a while it'll do.
When Darkness/Vaccine Cyberdramon is the only one left standing, I switch in my two SuperStarmons, which you may remember as being my first Ultimates in this challenge playthrough - they first appeared in a dungeon as a mistake, not being identified officially as Digimon appearing in the dungeon by any existing FAQ/Guide of the game. Now they get to deal triple modifier damage which somehow still isn't all that scary - raw stats still reign supreme.
11:47 Beating Chitose seems more rewarding as it yields a Shine Guard DX, which cannot be bought unlike the Dark Guard DX you get for dealing with Ryuji, though the difference in effectiveness a single of these grants is arguably minuscule. Chitose is also easily the hardest of the two. There's no Ultimate in his team, but his Free-type Ankylon is seemingly impossible to kill, and there are other specifics that make this fight different.
One is the presence of Unimon. Targeting the weaker stat of my Virus team (my best type team currently), he OHKOs most of the notable Virus mons I'd use by attacking their low INT. I have my Data-types take out Unimon first, and let me tell you my team is far from safe when this is being done. The other one is him decreasing OUR defence and intelligence with his shout instead of Ryuji's increasing his own team's attack and speed, which does make a world of difference and, under the worst circumstances, starts a sandbagging loop where Ankylomon now doesn't take all that much damage from MegaKabuterimons' INT piercing move. Luckily, I was hit by the debuff in the early stages of the battle and managed to get the only MegaKabuterimon affected killed off, resurrecting him with the debuff no longer in effect. It was only a matter of time until Ankylomon went down.
I suppose these videos were a nice demonstration of how some of the lesser Digimon can still be used somewhat effectively. WereGarurumon (Blk) is one cool dude.
