224Welcome to Distant Worlds 2, where the Teekans have managed to hide out from the cataclysm on a desert world and stay in relative peace. Of course, eventually the stars call again. Whether it's the need to hunt or the need to just find better snacks, either way we have a lot on our plate just to get the game started. Here in DW2, I start off with a quick survey of the game settings before diving into the actual game play itself. And there's a lot to do in the initial set up. Don't worry if Distant Worlds feels a little slow at first -- that's a little bit of the nature of the beast. Things are going to ramp up a lot, and eventually we'll be really thankful for the automation options. But for today, we will just have to enjoy that pungent Teekan aroma.
Distant Worlds 2 is the follow up to Distant Worlds: Universe, and it's fair to say that not breaking a working formula has been the right play. The UI and presentation has been greatly improved, but Distant Worlds 2 still holds onto its mostly 4x roots where you are free to automate as much as you want while watching the private economy prop up your empire. Look out for blind tech tree excitement AND new story events that continues the story from Universe. Prior experience not required.
