Dizzy The Adventurer has been ported to a LOT of systems, Nes, Amiga, Commodore, Amstrad, Spectrum, and it goes on, but one system that didn't get m(any) Dizzy games was the Mega Drive. This game was found hidden in files that the Oliver Twins had in storage and was a prototype for the Mega Drive, though it was unfinished. The team at YolkFolk.com got together and decided to fix the game and finish it, and that they did. With really no access to porting the game onto the M.D. they did the next best thing, ported it to the PC.

STORY: 16/20
The king is away and the castle has been over run by a troll, the Princess is tapped in the garden and cries for her Father. Daisy pricked her finger and fell asleep and was taken to the Evil Wizard Zaks' castle and locked in a room at the top of the tower. On top of this, Dizzy was thrown into the dungeon by a troll. Can he escape, call for the King's return, and save his beloved Daisy?

GRAPHICS: 18/20
I love these graphics, these are probably the best version graphics of this game I have seen of this game, and it's been remade for different systems so many times. I actually find it HARD to believe that the Mega Drive would have been capable to do these graphics so well, so I suspect they were tweaked for the PC to make it a little more appealing.

SOUNDS: 14/20
The music is an all new versions of old versions of the game's original music, which is fun and chirpy, I love it. You can also play the game with the old version of the music too if you wish by changing it in the games main menu settings. The sound effects are nice but some do sound a little umm.. well, grainy? It just don't sound right at times. I have noticed also that the game music just suddenly stops working, as seen in the gameplay above towards the end. I AM a little annoyed though that there was no new music at all.

GAMEPLAY: 16/20
The gameplay is simple, you explore areas pick up items that can be used to solve small easy puzzles. You collect stars and cherries which are a collection you need to find before you can get the ending. The game, as with most of the Dizzy games is easy, this game though has difficulty settings to make it more challenging for you. There is also Achievements you can collect too which I gather was added for the PC release which is nice. You can change Dizzy's jump from rolling to just standing if you wish to make things easier but whats the point in that..? that's one of the things that makes Dizzy so great. You can only carry 3 items at a time so you are limited to what items you can carry around, this makes walking back and forth a necessity but this might not be so great for some people.

SYSTEMS: 20/20
This version has so many systems in place to make it a unique experience from the other ports of this game. There's many Achievements to try and get, difficulty setting that alter things in game to make it easier or much harder. A Save/Load system.. and a lot more other things to discover.

OVER ALL: 84/100
This is definitely one of the best Dizzy ports i've played of Dizzy the Adventurer, if not THE best. Do I recommend it..? As a Dizzy fan, HELL YES! i'm not so sure modern gamers would get into the Dizzy series of games as easy today BUT I sure think you should give them ALL a try at least once and see how adventure-platform games were back in the 80's/90's, and Dizzy is a perfect experience for that.
