DJay 95 Plays: Mirai Ninja (Arcade) Longplay
Hey players, DJay here with a new longplay on Namco's side scrolling platformer beat 'em up, Mirai Ninja.
Description of the game:
Mirai Ninja is a horizontal scrolling platformer beat 'em up by Namco released exclusively in Japan on the arcade platform in November 1988 on the Namco System 2 system board and a video game adaptation of the film produced a month prior, also by Namco themselves. It later received a re-release on PS4 and Nintendo Switch via Arcade Archives in 2021. This is Namco's first ever film based video game adaptation.
A man's soul and body was stolen and used as part of a demon castle known as Castle Kurosagi. It doesn't end there as the Ninja princess Saki has being captured by the evil Shikinami Kurosagi. What remains is a cyber ninja named Shiranui. As such, Shiranui must journey to Castle Kurosagi and rescue princess Saki while fighting hordes of demon robots.
The game plays nearly similar to that of Sega's Shinobi. Players control Shiranui by moving left or right, jumping and using 2 of his weapons, the shurikens that can be thrown at enemies and the sword that is used in close combat. There are power-ups along the way that can assist you or increase your chance of surviving. Each power-up is presented by the kanji symbols and colour:
Yellow: Health increase by 20 units
Orange: Eliminates every enemy in range
Grey: Shrinks enemies to a small size and prevents Shiranui from taking damage.
Green: 3-Way shurikens for limited period
Blue: Upward curving shurikens for limited period
Shiranui's health is indicated on top of the screen by Kanji numerals and changes colour as Shiranui takes damage from white to yellow to red. The maximum health is 99 (九九). The best strategy is beating all 12 stages while minimizing the amount of damage or taking no damage at all. If an enemy touches Shiranui or successfully inflicts damage on him by shooting projectiles, Shiranui will take damage and be stunned for a second. Do not take too much time either or there will be extra enemies that will make later parts of the stage or boss battles even more difficult. If Shiranui's health reaches zero, Shiranui will die and opted to continue the game by restarting the entire stage from the beginning (continuing during the final boss battle will send the player back to the previous stage) or the game is over.
Are you skilled enough to beat all 12 stages, defeat Shikinami Kurosagi and save princess Saki?
