Last year's Cacoawards were a surprise to see not just runner ups but a whopping 25 Silver Cacoaward Winners and a further 24 honorable mentions and "special features", It was a pretty big year. Of the winners from that year, This one stood out along with the finale episode's runner up megwad for being huge community projects by iconic names.
Doom 2 In Spain Only is a 32 map megawad that is a spin-off from Doom the Way I.D. Did series and was released on September 10th 2021, A sort of in joke attempt to make Doom II but different with Tarnsman, Alfonzo, AD_79, Breezeep, Jimmy, and Sarah Mancuso all assuming the identity of "El Pedersen", "Juan Romero", "Sal Verde" and "South American McGee", A big play on their actual names but in spanish.
All of the maps are basically the names of the Doom II base levels but in spanish and when translated (litterally) it reads out somewhat odd in google translate, there's also some fine Spanish tunes composed by Jimmy, Alfonzo, and AD_79 all under the names "Ricky Martin", "Mark Anthony" and "Enrique Iglesias" with the super secret map taking the cake with a midi verson of Hotel California by The Eagles.
D2ISO is a unique wad, It's not that hard at first but reminds me a lot of Scythe II, Plutonia 2/Plutonia Experiment, and Hell Ground as you progress. The mappers knew well what they were doing as grabbing items will spawn a lot of monsters at once in later maps, What really stands out is the last episode where you'll be locked into rooms which are timed and I must've died many times across 6 days I reshot this episode as I was trying to get a smoother video, Even for how vicious it gets I enjoy Doom 2 In Spain Only for being truly a unique idea, something I never would've expected from the community.
