I have spoken of megawads and releases that have graced the pages of the Cacoawards and one in particular I've held off on tackling for the longest time, I had actually planned it to be the first episode of what will be Doom Wads/Mods Special #3 The Rejected, A Massive 100 episode special in two parts of wads I had tossed aside or simply dropped for another wad or mod, I had rejected this wad 7 times in total until now because I had not finished it, and I didn't want to do a episode til I was done, Because, Eviternity, Is a special megawad. The Alpha, The Omega, The Contender itself.
Eviternity is a 32 level megawad that was released originally on December 10th 2018, the 25 anniversary of Doom with a completely new texture set named "OTEX" which was made by Tantrum wad series creator Ola Bjorling, It was later given a final episode release and a winner spot at the 2019 Cacoawards. The megawad features impressive maps by project leader Dragonfly (Joshusa O'Sullivan) and several guest mappers with music being a mix between Mark Klem, James Paddock, Alfonzo, Eris Falling and Stewboy.
Eviternity is a whole other ballgame from other megawads, The pistol now has a new animation when firing and it's ammo is increased while it's damage has also increased, There's no jumping with a jumpkey so your running jumps will be tested to the max in Eviternity. Ammo isn't really a problem, though later on be prepared for some pain.
As you get further in Eviternity, the slaughter map like gameplay will take over and it became a BFG fest to survive like in Resurgence, Scythe II and Hell Revealed II, The last map of Episode 6 has the custom boss named the "Archangelus", A corrupted Angel who is a TOUGH fucker and it took me about 30 tries to beat them. Custom enemies weren't that impressive with the Annhilator being the laziest monster seeing as how I've seen that cyber baron too much in Project Brutality 3.0, That's the only negative thing about this otherwise, very impressive megawad.
