Down Below - Elden Ring pt.5 (2022-02-24)
Took a very, very long elevator down into some entirely new space known as the Siofra River. This place is massive, in some ways rivaling the scale of what little bit of Limgrave and beyond I've seen so far. This new underground area is much tougher and seems to be designed as an entire later section of the game.
I was speculating on this earlier based on the idea of "The Lands Between" and knowing that there's some sort of sky area as shown in the game's trailers. I figured they'd be doing some twist of the lands between being earth and there being some sort of heaven/hell equivalent areas - and you'd start in Limgrave/The Lands Between, head underground to the second major area (much tougher), and then the end of the game would be in the sky. If this underground area is similar in size to the overworld, I'd imagine that, including the sky area, the full game could be something like 36 times the size of the network test.
After spending some time in Siofra River and realizing I more or less got roadblocked by tough enemies, I decided I'd finally turn around and hit up Stormveil Castle and see what the intended path is like.
Thanks to Bandai Namco for the key!
