Finally made it to Godrick and what I suppose is the first big boss along the main path. As a spellcaster, he could generally be considered easy to fight if it weren't for some of the fire attacks that had ambiguous movement behavior (especially projectiles being mostly/fully embedded in the ground), as well as the fire sweeps where the affected area is sort of unclear/hard to dodge.

Luckily, Nepheli Loux and the spirit summons I had made the first half of the fight pas pretty quick, so I had plenty of opportunity to practice.

I found out later that there was a whole other, easier area that I could've explored before bothering with the castle - let alone a lot of stuff in the starting Limgrave area that I hadn't yet touched.

After finishing the fight, I get to make some interesting discoveries regarding the nature of dragons (which I didn't fully process on the initial observation), and those who hold Great Runes. I definitely didn't understand it until later, but Godrick's post-defeat state is telling, and something to keep in mind for later.
