How has this game gone so far under the radar?!? This is a game like Conan Exiles and Ark but with a bit more story and lore... and in VR! Today I built my first VR house.

According to the developer there is a major update coming in a week or so as of the date of this recording. All of it may be irrelevant by then. I did want to get in and experience the game as it is today so that I know what changes have been made to the game when the update hits and can convey those improvements to you guys. I think the game shows a lot of promise and can't wait to see how it ends up.

Right now the game plays like an open world survival game with some lore and exploration to be done. A lot of systems still seem to be in a pre-alpha state. IE they may not work correctly/well or be half finished state. The game does seem to be playable though if you overlook some of the issues. (and report the bugs to the dev so he can actually fix it.)

Graphically the game wasn't too shabby. There's some aliasing that people are going to complain about but it doesn't bother me as much in VR as it does in a flat game.

The audio was nothing to write home about but it wasn't bad either. Mostly just ambient sounds that add to immersion. No large orchestral scores or light airy tune. Just the sounds you'd hear while out on a prison island. Birds and crickets chirping, wind blowing, bears roaring. In that aspect I do think the audio was well done. It faded into the background and I didn't think about it much. It was just there and felt natural. I have to imagine that was the intent but who knows. It worked.

Locomotion: The Game Killer!

"Hey Master Shadow, what kind of locomotion does the game have?"

Great question little timmy! The game gives you the OPTION of teleport, Onward style trackpad and FLYING. Yes, flying. There is even lore behind all of the options. Your locomotion choice is a spell that you equip. You have 3 spells that you're given in the first few minutes of the game. Unfortunately I lost the teleport spell to a bug but it was there, I just couldn't demo it.

I really like the idea that multiple forms of locomotion have been introduced in a lore friendly way.

Another really nice feature of the game is the rotating skybox. It seems minor but when you're actually in the game and can watch the sun rise or set in VR or get absorbed watching the stars climb over the sky. It was really cool.

BUGZ:

There were a decent number of them. Won't go into them too much here due to the new build about to be released. Watch the video to see them firsthand.

The biggest one is that trying to replace items with another item in certain instances causes the items to be lost. For example the teleport spell at the beginning. I tried to place the teleport over the trackpad spell nad the teleport spell teleported away, never to be seen or heard from again. Similar happened later with my fire gems and wood. Trying to combine stacks of items in storage resulted in losing both stacks. Very frustrating and a high priority to fix if not fixed already in the new build.

A more cosmetic bug (which may be by design but I don't think so) the locomotion spell I had on my right hand got stuck there after the teleport spell got broken. Every time I pulled out my hand the square spell was there at my fingertips.

At the end of the day, it's an interesting sandbox survival RPG that I'v just scratched the surface of and can't wait to get back into once my leg rests a bit.
