The healthier of the two Octagonia bosses, Booga. His vitality is indeed remarkably high, yet the recording ended up being just as long as Jade's because he dodges significantly fewer attacks (still dodges some!) and his status ailment assault isn't quite as relentless.
Characters can still get beguiled, which is why some of them hold on to their protective accessories, and there's also a chance to miss your turn under the influence by Booga's dazzling dance (that's why he's Booga after all!).
Offensively, Booga has ST fire magic, MT wind damage and a physical attack, all of which are used liberally. I have no idea why but MC seems to often be affected by the targeted physical + MT Wind on the party being used often enough to seriously question whether it might be scripted to be used against the hero. However, for the MC to survive the combo, he requires 50% wind protection from Airfoil Earrings as well as Blunt being cast by Rab twice to reduce Booga's attack, which results in MC surviving with single-digit HP. It's worth it, just not instantly.
The battle begins immediately after Jinxed Jade's defeat (not with Jade in the party however) and our HP and MP are in the state we ended that fight with, seeing how nobody levelled up from measly 2,5K EXP. Using a Sage's Elixir on whoever is about to be using MP isn't misplaced here, considering that Booga also frequently drains the party's MP with an attack we haven't seen from a boss before.
Rab's debuffs will connect often enough with no resistance, and Sapping the boss makes Hendrik match Sylvando's offensive potential with fixed-damage Gold Rush. A +2 bonus attack makes Hendrik deal double of that damage; however, a single Oomph is too inefficient. I do get lucky with both Sylvando and MC getting pepped up in time to use The Fight Fantastic on the party at the start of the battle, the Hero subsequently losing his boost to KO, after which he is requipped to stand more of a chance.
It's only right after this fight that Sylvando learns Oomphle, fully buffing an ally's attack in a single action. This is a massive improvement as we no longer to have reapply the status before it wears off in fear of having to take two turns to bring it back, all while the target fails to cause anywhere near maximum expected damage. The hero gains two levels, albeit no longer being in a party of four where he is forced (he's still needed for many pepped powers, so we'll see plenty of him in the battles to come).
