Time to dethrone the faux emperor and reclaim Heliodor Castle!
Tyriant is yet another solo battle fought by the Hero, with Hendrik present as a guest and offering a lot of utility including defence buffs, healing, MP restoration and Forbearance to redirect all the opposition's attacks unto himself. He also offers attacks, one contribution that pales in comparison to MC's own damage output. It is not all useless however, as a single strike against the boss's shadow may prevent a dangerous situation from occurring and one landing against the main boss may well end the battle and make a difference, since they really add over the course of several turns.
One issue with Hendrik is that his actions may not be entirely relied on. You can find yourself without any defence buffs when the boss unleashes his pepped up attack, or not be healed when you're dying. Precautions must be taken, and healing yourself when you're not dying just yet is a sensible thing to do, and is pretty much a must when you prepare for the boss's shadow to appear.
Hendrik's Forbearance has a crucial role to play as it needs to be active when the boss unleashes one of his fatal attacks on the party - Hendrik must eat it all up for the battle to continue. This is another reason to heal the MC when it seems unnecessary - what does Hendrik do when MC misses some HP? Right, heals him. If that's not an option, one of the available ones would be using Forbearance (or attacking... or using Kabuff... as you can see, nothing is quite set in stone!).
MC's high-levelled enough to reach Gigaslash, which hits stronger than greatsword techs and being a sword tech allows the Hero to equip for defence without sacrificing any offensive potential. It's costly in terms of MP spent but exceeds the MT damage of Rockbomb Shards you can farm in Act 2, and not taking up inventory space is yet another boon seeing how Panacea are used liberally throughout the fight.
Our equipment generally favours physical defence with the exception of Zombie Mail+3 being equipped for a huge 50% cut to dark-elemental attacks. The boss's spells now deal 50 damage instead of 100, and that makes a world of difference in a low level game with few hit points.
Luck and execution being equally valuable, this is a dynamic fight with a lot of action in spite of you being in control of just one character.
