Driver Walkthrough Part 1: Getting In (INTRO)
Welcome back to my channel, dear gamers. As promised, today we'll kickstart the walkthrough of another classic which has been on my back-burner for quite awhile. The game in question is of course one of the most revolutionary games of its time, Driver so sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
Please note that due to shortness of individual missions in this game, my walkthrough will incorporate several missions in individual videos. With that out of the way, enjoy.
About Game: Driver (also known as Driver: You Are The Wheelman in North America) is 1999 Action-Adventure video game developed by Reflections Interactive and published by GT Interactive for PlayStation, PC and GameBoy Color with mobile port having also been released for IOS-compatible devices by Gameloft in 2009. It is the first game of Driver video game series. Upon release, Driver was met with universal acclaim and became a commercial hit, having sold over 1 million copies within two months of release while critics praised the game's relatively open and for the time, realistically rendered depictions of major American cities, a formula which was perfected by Grand Theft Auto 3 two years later. Additional praise went to the game's atmosphere inspired by 1970s car chase movies, original soundtrack and driving controls which one reviewer described as perfect blend of true physics and arcade functionality with Driver having won or been nominated for multiple gaming awards in 1999 and 2000, including 1999 edition of E3 Game Critics' Award which it won in the category for best racing game. However, critics also noted the game's steep difficulty with especially infamous example being the game's mandatory opening tutorial where players need to perform a checklist of driving stunt moves under strict time limit with Driver often being counted in the ranks of hardest PS1 games of all times. Regardless, Driver is today seen both as one of the defining titles for PlayStation and important technical step forward in 3D gaming with this success having prompted a continuation of the series with Driver 2 which was released in 2000.
Story of the game follows John Tanner, NYPD detective and former racer whose driving expertise got him noticed by his superiors as they decide to send him to Miami, Florida in order to infiltrate a local criminal underworld as an prospective wheelman with the plan being to get to a local criminal named Rufus who is connected to significantly more powerful criminals. To that end, Tanner heads to Miami and is quickly hired by a group of local criminals who first test out his driving abilities in an parking garage. Soon after impressing them, Tanner starts to receive jobs from the group, first of which are to act as an getaway driver during the bank heist and take an incriminated vehicles to be altered in order to be unrecognizable to police...
