Duck Hunt is a light gun shooter video game released by Nintendo in 1984 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and the Nintendo Vs. System arcade system. In April 1984, the game was published in Japan on the Family Computer (Famicom) console and as an arcade game in North America. It was then released in North America as a NES launch game in October 1985, with a European release two years later.

Duck Hunt requires the usage of a NES Zapper and a CRT television to shoot ducks that appear on the screen. The player is allowed three shots to shoot down the ducks, which appear one or two at a time. Each duck that is shot earns the player points. The player advances to the following round if he or she shoots the required number of ducks in a single round; else, the player receives a game over.

The game was initially well-received in the mid-1980s, but afterwards garnered very minor critical praise in retrospective assessments. Nintendo also produced a Duck Hunt game based on the Laser Clay Shooting System, which was published in 1976, before the NES version. Duck Hunt was a great financial success for arcades and consoles alike when it was released in the 1980s, helping to popularize light gun video games and selling over 28 million copies worldwide.

Duck Hunt was one of numerous titles Nintendo released as a pack-in game with several of its releases beginning with the nationwide distribution of the NES in 1986. Duck Hunt and Gyromite were featured in the first Deluxe Set. The subsequent Action Set included Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros. as a pack-in for an updated Basic Set; unlike previous versions, Nintendo chose to put both games on one cartridge rather than separate independent cartridges. The Power Set, which came with the Power Pad, was the last NES release to contain Duck Hunt as a pack-in; for that release, the multicart included World Class Track Meet as a third selectable game alongside Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros. In 2014, the game was released as a Wii U Virtual Console title.
