Dying Light 2 Part 1. An important meet up. (Normal New Game Blind)
Part Synopsis: Set 15 years after The Fall, a former Pilgrim named Aiden meets with Spike in a countryside area. They have some sort of friendly history together. After learning how to craft medicine, the duo explore an empty house nearby. They speak on the second floor.
Having previously set up a meeting between Aiden and in informant, Spike gives him the location to make contact before departing. Going solo, several straggling zombies occupy the path there. Aiden eventually finds the Broadcast Station, making entry.
Part Notes: Having little information prior to starting about the storyline, I don't have much to say by the end of this video. It's an interesting set up for something bigger to come, of course. The controls are somewhat different compared to Dying Light 1, which I'm still adjusting to. Also interested to see how else this sequel ties into the first. We've already seen Spike, so there's that. And already hearing about the ''logic'' in why guns aren't present is still baffling.
Playthrough Information: Having replayed Dying Light 1 not blind as requested by a viewer who I disclosed with prior I had already done the main game and Following DLC, I'm pleased to report Dying Light 2 will in comparison be fully new to me. I am playing on Normal difficulty. As with other open world titles on the channel, my intent is to cover the story-based quests and side-quests. Collectibles, challenges, general exploration and random searching I don't plan on including. I feel these activities aren't worth featuring due to them inflating the series length and not being vitally important. Future DLC will be judged on an individual basis, depending on the mechanics featured. Gameplay shown on PS5. Every video will feature commentary and webcam usage.
About Game: Dying Light 2: Stay Human is a 2022 action role-playing game developed and published by Techland. The sequel to Dying Light (2015), the game was released on February 4, 2022. The game received generally favorable reviews, with praise directed at the combat, parkour system, and open world, but criticism for the story. It sold 5 million units in its first month of release.
Gameplay: Dying Light 2: Stay Human is an action role-playing survival horror video game featuring a zombie apocalyptic-themed open world. Set 22 years after Dying Light, it stars a new protagonist named Aiden Caldwell, who has various parkour skills. Players can perform actions such as climbing ledges, sliding, leaping off from edges, and wall running to quickly navigate the city. Tools such as a grappling hook and a paraglider also aid traversal in the city. The game is mostly melee-based with the majority of fighting using melee weapons. The melee weapons have a limited lifespan and will degrade as the player uses them in combat. Long-range weapons such as crossbows, shotguns, and spears can be used as well. New zombies have been added. Like the first game, the zombies are slow when exposed to sunlight, but they become more aggressive and hostile at night. During the latter time of day, players can avoid zombies roaming the streets by staying on rooftops, who would otherwise hibernate inside buildings to avoid sunlight or explore the safe interior of buildings to find items.
The game is set in the city of Villedor, a massive urban open world set in Europe that players can explore freely. The map, which is four times bigger than the first game, is broken into seven distinct regions and each has its own landmarks and locations. When exploring the city, players can scavenge for scrap and resources to craft new items and weapons. Players meet different factions and have to make decisions that fundamentally change the state of the game's world and how non-playable characters view Aiden. The consequences are far-reaching, with the player being able to bring prosperity to a faction while completely destroying another settlement. Making certain decisions will open up or seal-off areas in the city, encouraging players to complete multiple playthroughs.
Release: The game was announced at E3 2018 during the Xbox press conference by Avellone as Dying Light 2. Square Enix distributes the game and provided marketing efforts in North America. On May 27, 2021, a digital event was held and a December 7, 2021 release date was revealed, alongside the game's title adding the subtitle of Stay Human. Techland promised to support the game with downloadable content and updates for at least five years after the game's launch. A New Game Plus mode was added in April 2022.
