Edge of Eternity was released on Steam for Early Access in 2018, it is developed by Midgar Studio and published by Dear Villagers, and Maple Whispering Limited. At the time of uploading this video it is in version 1.598.


This game is great, graphically it's really good, music ain't half bad either. For an Early Access (EA) game it's very polished but it ain't without it's problems. The game is plagued with loading screen after loading screen with long load times, you can see right through the hair on your character's heads, like the devs have made the characters hair kinda semi-transparent.

The battles are grid-based movement, where you move into place and then take turns to attack. These battles are very tactical, where you can use your surroundings and objects to your advantage and gain the upper hand. Attacking from behind can also raise damage, and attacking whilst the enemy are casting can interrupt the cast, this is the same for you.

Moving around is free movement but the first hour or so of the game is very linear, i'm not really sure what it is like later in the game when you get out to the open world exploration stuff, I never reached there in my hour or so playthrough for this video.

Another issue I found was the fact that switching from cutscenes to the controlled parts are very jolted, its not smooth.. it feels like its just cut like a Movie Maker video. When it moves from the cutscene to you playing it sometimes very quickly shows something then switches back, which I guess is a bug they know about and will change son enough.

The game is very story heavy for the Prologue, there's a lot of talking that introduces you to characters, the story, the world, i's setting and such so be ready to read a lot or listen to your characters talk. What the game is for now its pretty awesome, sure.. changes need to be made but then this is an EA game so it will eventually happen.
