New Vegas itself is probably the single weirdest place ever designed for use with the Gamebryo engine, and as such it comes off as something of a mission statement from Obsidian. The developers clearly wanted this to be something wackier as well as much more instantly recognizable than the nondescript streets with no names which collectively made up Fallout 3's Washington DC (or the uniformly green hills of Oblivion, for that matter).

Apart from slot machines and muzak, New Vegas bombards the player with quests and it seems every new character you meet represents a new political group with a very complicated relationship to every other faction in the city. Upon entering New Vegas the game doesn't so much "open up" as virtually explode with a bewildering amount of new content. It's fortunate that there is also some comic relief to be found - such as the "Yes Man", an absolutely hilarious robot who simply can't resist agreeing with everything the player says and answer every question truthfully, even when it *really* shouldn't...
