When Obsidian said that the Brotherhood of Steel was going to play a lesser role in New Vegas than in previous Fallout games, they weren't kidding. Personally it took me many hours of gameplay before I even encountered a single (non-dead) Brother, although admittedly it shouldn't be hard to find their hidden base much earlier than that.

Despite being a comparatively minor player in the Mojave desert, the Brotherhood *is* one of the game's factions and, as such, got a few substantial quests to offer. The internal power struggle is particularly interesting, and it doesn't appear to be offering a clear "good" or "bad" choice. What the player decides to do seem to depend more on what specific role he or she wants the Brotherhood to play in the struggle for military and political control over the wasteland.
