Amnesia: The Dark Descent (2010) (PC) (Frictional Games)
The global omnipresence of that ghastly commercialized excuse for a holiday known as "Halloween" may be one of the more offensive examples of American cultural imperialism in today's world, but at the very least it provides a good excuse for all those PC-centric digital download services to slash their prices just as dramatically as Michael Myers does his victims.
This year there weren't too many interesting titles on sale which I hadn't already played through on consoles, but the highly atmospheric indie adventure/survival horror game Amnesia: The Dark Descent was 50% off on Impulse and considering that its initial price was already low there simply wasn't an excuse not to buy it. What I hadn't realized before is that there is a fully featured level editor for this game, and I'm really interested to see what creepy new scenarios the modding community can come up with...
