Fallout: New Vegas (Gameplay #8)
It's a small thing for sure, but visiting places where post-apocalyptic radiation is *not* the one defining feature of the landscape is one of the nicer experiences in New Vegas, and also one that sets the game apart from the constant gloom which dominated the DC area in Fallout 3. Being able to drink clean water out in the wilderness for a change feels weird, but in a good way.
Also included in this video is a small part of a quest which can be completed in a variety of interesting ways. The idea is that you're restarting a power plant and have the option to decide who will benefit from the new output of electricity. The New California Republic wants all of it to go to the urban environments of New Vegas and their own foremost military installation Camp McCarran; whereas another faction called Followers of the Apocalypse would rather have the power distributed more equally across the area (something which would presumably have the side effect of inadvertently helping Caesar's Legion as well?). Those are only two of the possible configurations, however, which can then also be combined with an entirely optional command which severely weakens the NCR's military presence. It's choices like these which make me genuinely interested in playing New Vegas with multiple characters in order to experience a wider range of quest outcomes.
