A playthrough of Fallout, the first title of the Fallout game series that came out in 1997. This video series will be broken up by town when possible. Includes random commentary from me.

Albert the Vault Dweller gets selected to leave his home, Vault 13, in search of a water chip needed for the vault to produce fresh drinking water. Vault 13's water chip had broken down and the Overseer decided that the best lead would to be head for a nearby vault, Vault 15, to find the needed part.

On the way to Vault 15, Albert finds a settlement called Shady Sands, coming into contact with the first human town on the surface since leaving Vault 13. The rustic lifestyle led by the inhabitants of the surface is harsh and the battle for survival is constant. In Shady Sands, he learns more about the world outside his vault, such as the existence of giant mutated radscorpions and the use of bottle caps as currency for bartering goods. He also makes friends with Ian, an ex-caravan guard who prolonged his stay in Shady Sands after getting injured on a caravan run. Albert convinces the experienced traveler to help with his dangerous quest searching for a water chip.

Together, they set off for Vault 15, where some of the people of Shady Sands originally came from. However, what he discovered were ruins that was now home to many mutated rodents that made the abandoned Vault 15 their nest. No power flowed through the remnants of Vault 15 and Albert put the rope he found to good use. With it, he could make his way down elevator shafts to the lower levels that once were accessed via an elevator that no longer exists.

Though Vault 15 was mostly bare, there were still usable items and equipment to be found. But at the lowest level the Vault Dweller was faced with an impossible barrier. Barred by tons of rock, there was no way to the command center of the dilapidated vault. Albert quickly knew that Vault 15 was not going to be the salvation Vault 13 needed, and promptly made his way back out to the surface and backtracked to Shady sands.

Having agreed to help, they cleared a nearby cave that was the nest of a large group of radscorpions before collapsing the entrance. Their bravery saved Shady Sands from the radscorpion threat that had brought harm to the people of Shady Sands, and samples of radscorpion tails helped Razlo, the local doctor, concoct an antidote for their powerful venom.

Having saved Shady Sands, the Vault Dweller returns briefly to Vault 13 to check on things and get additional supplies for what was turning out to be a much more difficult quest than going to a nearby vault to ask for a replacement water chip. Tension was in the air with vault citizens feeling uneasy about their survival and being able to do nothing but sit and wait because of the Overseer's orders.

Albert manages to calm some of them down and some displayed curiosity about the outside world upon seeing Albert return, even if his quest was still far from complete. After re-supplying with what little was available in Vault 13's stores, the Vault Dweller sets out again into the wasteland, deciding to stop by Shady Sands before heading for Junktown, a trading post further down southwest.

Upon arriving Shady Sands, Albert learns that Tandi, the daughter of the mayor, had been kidnapped by raiders. Hearing the town's plea for help, the Vault Dweller rose to the occasion once more and ventured out to the raiders camp, where Tandi was kept in a jail cell. Though he was not yet an experienced fighter, his way with words allowed him to convince the leader of the raider group that he represented a much bigger threat than Shady Sands and that it would be in their best interest to set Tandi free.

Though it was all just a bluff, the Vault Dweller's convincing talk made it possible for all of them to make it out of the situation unscathed and Tandi was quickly returned to the safety and comfort of Shady Sands.

After saving Shady Sands twice, the people of Shady Sands were forever grateful to the Vault Dweller.

I set the game difficult to easy and battle difficulty to wimpy just cause the goal is a playthrough, not a speed run nor to prove how good I am at this game.
