A playthrough of Fallout, the first title of the Fallout game series that came out in 1997. Includes random commentary from me and some background noise that can't be helped.

This video picks up from where I left off after Video No.02 (https://youtu.be/w4F4EUX_6ZQ)

After solving Junktown's problems, the Vault Dweller makes for The Hub to find new leads on finding a water chip. Asking around, Albert discovers that there's something out in the wastelands that's been making armed caravans disappear. The Far Go Traders were the hardest hit and while there were suspicions about the cause--such as the mysterious and deadly Deathclaws, or even rival traders being the culprits behind the disappearances--nothing was certain.

The Vault Dweller agreed to assist the Far Go Traders in finding out the cause, but made saving his vault's water crisis the top priority. This meant getting better equipped for the challenges and dangers presented by the wasteland and whatever threats await him in his travels. The Hub's role as a major economic center made getting quality supplies and equipment easy, if one could afford them. In need of caps and unable to trade time to work as a caravan guard, Albert takes on some shady jobs such as: the theft of a jewel necklace, the murder of a merchant, and eliminating the High Priestess of the Children of the Cathedral group that had taken over The Hub's hospital.

To make up for his bad deeds, Albert also does some good. Having been hired to assassinate some people in town, the Vault Dweller reports his former employer to the police and takes part in their execution by law enforcement. He also helps a farmer taking refuge to the south of town take by their farm from raiders that had overtaken it. And lastly, he freed a man held captive by some trigger-happy guards in an unmarked house.

While in the Old Town section of The Hub, Albert meets Harold, a hideously mutated man who survived by begging. In thanks for a little change, Harold tells his tale of how he came to be mutated and who he was before the changes to his body took place. Harold originally came from a vault as well but had spent many years on the surface having left his vault at a younger age and established himself as a trader who ran circuits between towns. But that happened many years ago and Harold's actual age probably already exceeded that of normal human life expectancy.

An expedition to find the source of the mutants was a success with the help of Harold's friend, Richard Grey, who helped pinpoint the location to the northwest. Harold's expedition made it inside a pre-war military base but only he and Richard made it to the innermost core. It was there that Richard was thrown into a vat filled with green goo while Harold got knocked out. Harold finishes his story by saying it was after the event that he started to change.

Turning his attention back to the quest at hand, Albert goes over hints of where to find the water chip needed to save Vault 13 that came from various sources. The bookstore sold him a holodisk that revealed there was another vault in the region with water purifying system. The water merchants who seemed to have an idea of who had their own water sources in the region suggested a place called Necropolis must have their own as they declined to trade for water.

In addition, though the Water Merchants were able to offer 100 days worth of water to Vault 13, Albert decided it would be prudent to keep the location of the vault a secret and did not seal the deal after being warned that the caravan would basically be marking the way to his vault for careful observers. He'll just have to make it back to the vault with a water chip before the water runs out.
