A playthrough of Fallout, the first title of the Fallout game series that came out in 1997. Includes random commentary from me and some background
noise that can't be helped.

Note: I cut out the ending cinematic along with final comments I made after the credits as YouTube detected a copyright issue because "Maybe" by The Ink Spots gets used.

This video picks up from where I left off after Video No.06 (https://youtu.be/XZYgEEH8cfE)

Equipped and supplied with everything he needed to confront the super mutant threat, Albert makes his way to the Military Base. The Vault Dweller had already opened the entrance, so the Paladins who came to assist just stood guard outside while Albert went inside a base filled with heavily armed super mutants.

Albert manages to kill all super mutants he came across before they could set off the alarm to alert others of his entry. "Lou," who was mentioned by the dumb super mutants in Necropolis turned out to be the Lieutenant, a highly intelligent and partially cyber-enhanced super mutant that served as The Master's right hand. He had been a devote believer of The Master's plan even before his transformation, and his successful transformation only affirmed his convictions. The plan was to capture all the "prime humans" to turn them into super mutants that would join The Master's army for the goal of Unity.

The Lieutenant's views were that super mutants were the next step of human evolution, even if it was just a chem that forced mutations selecting for certain traits that enhanced the ability to survive in a radioactive environment. Apparently the bombs that hit the Westech facility had released a strain of mutated FEV that inoculated most humans in the wasteland, making most unable to transform into the super mutant form The Master sought for his perfect race.

Though Vree's autopsy report concludes super mutants were incapable of sexually reproducing, the Lieutenant said that a solution to that issue was in the works, and that relying on captured humans to create new super mutants was temporary. Vault 13 being filled with prime human subjects untainted by the background irradiated FEV virus, made it a highly sought source of new soldiers. That confirmed the Overseer's worries about Vault 13's safety and ability to survive even after the recovery of the water chip.

Albert had no problems dealing with the super mutants and slew the Lieutenant. Next, he accessed the computer controlling the vats filled with FEV and caused the base to explode, ensuring that no new super mutants would ever be produced there again.

The Master's plan, though crippled by the destruction of the Military Base, was still in effect. A sizeable super mutant army with an intelligent and charismatic leader leading a cult could still do much to damage. Perhaps with time, The Master would grow even more knowledgeable and one day develop a means to realize his goals without the FEV vats.

The Vault Dweller proceeds to the Cathedral south of Boneyard after confirming their connection with super mutants. The Followers of the Apocalypse were right in their suspicions. After a violent confrontation on the first floor, Albert makes his way up past the locked door and slays Morpheus, the head of the Children, along with all the nightkin super mutants that guarded the way.

Behind another locked door was a way below the Cathedral. Though it seemed to lead to a dead end, a bookshelf actually hid a panel that opened a secret door in the wall that lead to a vault beneath the surface. However, the entrance was guarded by ungodly mutant creatures and super mutants. After getting in, something odd about the place that stood out was the fleshy mass that seemed to be a part of the structure and machines. Records retrieved from the Military Base suggests that this machine/flesh symbiotic life form was what became of Richard Gray, who came up with the idea of Unity and was worshiped as The Master.

Horrible experiments were wrought on captive humans below, and many were absorbed by The Master. Given a device that would protect him from the Master's psychic powers, Albert questions the hideously mutated being. Having so many minds absorbed into him, The Master spoke in several different voices but was far from infallible. Vree's autopsy report was enough to convince him his plans were for nothing because his master race of super mutants would die out in a generation as they were unable to reproduce as a race. Defeated by reason, the Master initiates self-destruct and ends his own life.

The super mutant threat ended, the region is safe once more, bringing the game to its end.
