FE7if is a hack for the japanese version of Blazing Sword, Rekka no Ken. Enemy difficulty is boosted, items/weapons/characters rebalanced, new music, and even new characters taking the place of some old ones.

If you wish to try out the hack, the latest version can be located here: http://www.uploadable.ch/file/ACDETeQcA9Dg

The wiki for the hack is located here: http://seesaawiki.jp/fe7if/

Do a search on Google for the ROM (Japanese version of course!).

We're back on track folks! Last time, the party dealt with the worst designed map in a hack I've seen thus far.

This time, in a gaiden chapter, the party gets to deal with the angry mage army under the desert. There's a few physical units, but otherwise it's all spellcaster country...promoted spellcaster country that is.

You'll be forced to deploy Hawkeye for this chapter, but no worries, he's pretty good at fighting even without supports.

The biggest danger of this map is threefold. First, you have Kishuna in the middle of the map surrounded by some strong physical units, all with ranged attacks except for the anti-magic producing barrier man himself. Kishuna does move around which could pose a problem. That Druid who couldn't cast magic is now likely blasting someone with a painful shot of magic in their face.

Secondly, two siege tome dingbats. The one for the western team has Thunderbolt while the south team will have to deal with Eclipse.

On top of that, there's a third problem...a Sage has Sleep and a Bishop has Berserk, the latter of which will make the afflicted unit attack anyone in his or her range...allied units included.

Granted, the majority of the real threats are getting blocked from doing their thing by Kishuna except for the Sleep using Sage. If he feels like moving east though, the Thunderbolt Sage can potentially start causing pain.

Oddly enough, my strategy involves baiting the Sleep using Sage to target Sain. With this, it's entirely possible for Kishuna to park himself near a wall, allowing someone with ranged capabilities to take him out. If you do this, all the doors on this map will unlock, the weak walls will disappear. and only some of the temple guards will vanish...one of which is the Berserk wielding Bishop.

In return, you get four reinforcements taking his place (Druid, Sage, Bishop, Valkyrie). All four drop a useful item upon their death, making the slaying of Kishuna something you should pursue.

Of course, this means you need to be very wary of the siege tome jerks. While the Thunderbolt one tends to be dead by the time Kishuna leaves on his own or you take him out, the Eclipse one can be dangerous. It's entirely possible for him to run up into Kishuna's room. If that happens, well, I hope your Merlinus can survive. Thankfully a combination of Canas's own Eclipse and some Longbow shenanigans put him down before he could become a threat.

Once those jerks are out, this map is pretty simple.

More next time!
