I wanted to write this quick intro with a random fact (as is customary of me lately) about the Octagon, the famous and uniquely designed ring created for the UFC. To my surprise, the most interesting part of its background is the dispute over its inventor. There are several men who claim to be the one who brainstormed the concept, and no one can seem to agree on who it actually was. It is currently in the history books, so to speak, that art director Jason Cusson built the very first Octagon that was the stage for the very first UFC event in 1993. As a matter of fact, he was acknowledged at an event in 2017. His inspiration? “The Octagon”, a Chuck Norris film from 1980. The credible source to recognize Cusson as the creator? Campbell McLaren, a co-creator of the UFC. Of course, a lot of other names should be mentioned, but then this intro wouldn't be an accurate intro, much less a quick one.

Street Fighter V combat does not take place in an octagon, but this is currently Round 8 of my challenge. Tenuous connection aside, this round is currently leading as my favorite batch of the roster so far. This pack starts off with my most highly anticipated characters at the time (E. Honda, Lucia, and Poison). Including the last of the SF antagonists (Gill and Seth), this group of characters collectively are the most fun for me. “Okay James, then you're expecting easy victories for this round?” Alas, viewer, no, but watch and find out if I even gain any victories with some of my favorite fighters!
