Final Fantasy [GBA] Playthrough #15, Sunken Shrine: Rosetta Stone; Boss: Kraken

Previously, the party rescued the faerie and got the Oxyale in return. Now, they can go underwater and visit the Sunken Shrine in the waves below Onrac.
In Onrac, they take the barrel submarine (time 0:25). In a brief scene, they descend and alight on the third floor of the Sunken Shrine.
In a room northwest of the entrance, a chest contains 9,900 gil (time 1:42).
After a battle, the party reaches Level 36 (time 2:32).
East of the entrance, a chest contains 2,000 gil (time 4:06).
In the northeast, the party goes up to level 4F (time 5:23).
In a room in the middle of the floor, a chest contains 20 gil (time 6:43).
After a battle, the party reaches Level 37 (time 8:37).
In a room in the north, a chest contains a Diamond Armor (time 9:11).
In a room in the southwest, a chest contains a Light Axe (time 11:00). This casts Diara when used as an item in battle.
In the south-center room, a chest contains a Mage's Staff (time 12:06). This casts Fira when used as an item in battle. Nifty.
In the southeast room, a chest contains 12,350 gil (time 12:57).
The party takes the southeast stairway up to floor 5F (time 13:06). This floor has a 4x4 grid layout, but the damaged floor makes it hard to get around. Some of the rooms hold resident mermaids who speak of what has happened.
In the second room from the west, third from the north, there are three chests (time 13:19). They contain a Diamond Armlet, 1,760 gil, and 9,000 gil.
In the northwest, there is a hall that loops around to the northeast side of the area.
In the northeast room, there are three chests (time 14:38). They contain a Diamond Helm, Diamond Gloves, and the Rosetta Stone. The Rosetta Stone will be needed after the party finishes this dungeon.
In the second room from the west on the northern row, a chest contains 2,750 gil (time 15:22).
In the third room from the west, second from the north, there is a chest containing 4,150 gil (time 15:41).
In the third room from the west on the northern row, there are two chests (time 16:07). They contain 10 gil and 10,000 gil.
In the eastern room on the second row from the north, there is a chest containing 5,000 gil (time 16:22).
In the room east of the staircase on the bottom row, there is a chest containing an Antidote (time 17:01). A mermaid here speaks of the Mirage Tower in the desert. It sounds like chimes are needed to get inside.
In the southeastern room, there is a chest containing a Diamond Shield (time 17:28).
The party returns to floor 4F (time 17:54). Then, they go back down to floor 3F (time 19:00). Returning to town to rest may be a good idea.
After a battle, the party reaches Level 38 (time 19:24).
In the northwest of 3F, the party takes the stairway down to 2F (time 20:31).
To the north, they ascend a stairway to 3F (time 21:41). Right away, they take another stairway up to 4F.
To the southeast, they take a stairway down to a different part of 3F (time 22:15). In the neighboring room, there are chests containing 110 gil and 450 gil.
To the south, a stairway leads down to floor 2F (time 22:59).
A room to the north houses four chests (time 23:47). They contain 7,340 gil, 2,750 gil, 9,900 gil, and a Ribbon. Ooh, a second Ribbon!
A room in the southeast contains two chests (time 24:55). They hold 8,135 gil and 7,690 gil.
There are three chests in the southwest room (time 26:21). They contain 5,450 gil, 385 gil, and Giant's Gloves. Giant's Gloves cast Saber when used as an item in battle. Good; the black magic spell is pretty useless because it is self-targeting.
In the northwest room, a chest contains a Light Axe (time 27:49).
In a battle, the party reaches Level 39 (time 28:33).
In the northwest, the party goes downstairs to level 1F (time 30:13). All the rooms here are empty.
In the northwest, the party finds the Altar of Water (time 32:58). When they examine the blue orb they ... release the Kraken! Sorry, I couldn't resist. Kraken is the Fiend of Water. He delivers rapid attacks. His ink can inflict darkness, which does not seem to be much of a hindrance in this game. The old Haste and Temper method works well.
After the battle, light returns to the Water Crystal (time 35:02). Elsewhere, the entrance to the Lifespring Grotto is unbarred.
The portal behind the altar takes the party back to the surface outside Onrac (time 35:56). Next time, they will work on getting into the dungeon to revive the last Crystal.
