When I first heard the details of this new FE game's release, I thought it wouldn't be something I'd enjoy, the initial reactions fortifying my suspicions. Yet in a fit of morbid curiosity, I reached after a Nox emulator (not possessing a smartphone) and went to great lengths to try the game out.

tl;dr it's the addictive in about the worst imaginable way, designed in a way that would force impatient players to throw money to get their favourite characters or be able to extend their experience beyond the limit (which gets extremely restrictive after a point).

At the same time, the game's not without its merits, I must admit. The gameplay may be simplified, but it has its own depth distinct from that experienced in known FE titles. Parts that I appreciate include the complete absence of accuracy and skill proc ratios, even for existing killer weapons, something I hope to be reflected in the main line of games someday. However, a lot of it really irritates me, some of which may have well been intended by the creators. Besides the monetary implications when it comes to making progress, I do hate the random nature of summoning heroes - an unlucky player will have a significantly harder time getting through the game without potent units.

The game really triggered my addiction, as I found that no emulator can adequately function on my computer. Bluestacks stops responding after a while, and Nox Emulator only works the first time I install it - the next time I try to open it, it attempts to re-install itself (in spite of already appearing among the programs on my PC) and fails. If I want to play the game more, I need to go through the tedium of installation, linking of accounts and file downloads all over again.

I did several runs while binging on the game instead of playing in small doses as intended for these reasons, and I think I'm done with it by now. It's not worth reinstalling the game when I'm out of Stamina Potions and 50 pts of stamina only last for like 3-4 extra maps at the stage of the game I'm at (9-5 Normal completed).

As for this run, I was lucky to get Takumi (5-star) on this attempt, as well as a 5-star Armourslayer+ Caeda in the same group of initial 5 pulls. Caeda was fragile and only really effective against green/axe armour units, but Rally Speed was sorta helpful.

Takumi was merely my strongest offensive unit to hurt people with for a while, but when I got the 300 SP for the point-blank range counterattack ability, having Takumi counter foes while getting healed (Azama being my only healer made this a bit hard) was basically the way of getting anything done. Crazy stats, a speed debuff on nearby foes and a way to dispose of fliers without being restrained by anybody in the weapon triangle ensured I didn't have that much trouble clearing the maps.

Apparently, Hector is as good as Takumi? I'd like to try him out, but I imagine I won't get the chance.
