At this point, the party is technically able to tackle the final dungeon, but before then I wanted to beat the monolith demons for completion's sake. I really doubt I will need the numerous skills they teach my potential Diabolism users, as said skills don't appear particularly desirable in a low level game at a first glance, but since we'll go after the postgame bosses eventually, might as well be done with the optional monoliths beforehand.

There is a total of seven demon monolith battles, and the enemies are the same I remember facing in the old DS game 4 Heroes of Light, whose low-level challenge I also once attempted and never finished the final battle of (there seems like a decent list of these by now if I go through unfinished challenges throughout the years).

Out of those seven bosses, 5 make for very short battles for the low-level challenge, probably because they were finished extremely quickly. The main reason they were finished that fast is that doing them without cheesing would result in the party's death. The two demons that resulted in longer, more elaborate fights ended up to be Beelzebub and Belphegor, so I'm uploading these two as separate vids and the other five as a compilation.

The boss here, Beelzebub, is an odd one. It's got 150K HP, which also applies to all the monoliths, and is weak to thunder and earth, which means little considering we'll be pummeling it with Meteor Rain as per usual.

What makes it more distinct is the fact that it's got an AoE physical, requiring Soul Mirror to be used on all four party members, which in a longer fight means two units need to bring Soul Mastery as their skillset. It also likes to inflict a plethora of status affliction on the party, the worst of which is the notoriously persistent Stop status that's so hard to get rid of through any means other than waiting for it to pass with time.

Finally, as its most noticeable gimmick, Beelzebub has the Gluttony skill that it uses when its HP gets low. When it's used, the boss absorbs all damage, relatively quickly getting back to max HP. If the absorbed damage isn't inflicted, it will unleash a powerful attack; if it is, Gluttony's absorption effect will be lifted and the boss will receive whatever damage it had previously absorbed.

What makes the latter portion of the fight unpredictable is that sometimes Gluttony will be replaced... by another Gluttony? Sometimes it renews it, at other times it doesn't. Causing us to start over with inflicting absorbed damage.

I do like the pressure of having to control and constantly check what positive statuses are applied to the party, as this the battling more complex. It pretty much creates the whole depth of doing the low level challenge in this game.

In hindsight, Beelzebub can also be cheesed if you RNG the first turn, coming in knowing exactly what attack will be used and dedicating just one unit to lifting its effect while the other three go for a Ventriloquism assault. Beelzebub can be taken out on the 1st turn this way.

I'm sure nobody will mind me doing the battle the hard way, as it can be achieved reasonably and reliably, and those who do want to see an endgame boss utterly destroyed in a heartbeat can look forward to witnessing plenty of that in the videos I will upload in the nearest future. No shortage of that stuff, I gotta say.
