Two more major storyline battles in this video. Gladion returns with a slightly improved party, and we also battle the kahuna of the 3rd island of the game.

Gladion leads with the single evolved Pokemon we're sick of seeing if we've been playing Pokemon since the series' inception - Golbat. I have a new Golem caught here; aside from having higher phys attack than the traded one, it's got Sturdy as its ability, meaning it may or may not have future utility in setting Stealth Rock in battles to come. I've already explained why I couldn't possibly even try to get a Galvanize Graveler, but it should be clear to anyone who understands the game.

Type:Null now hits much harder with Crush Claw whose defence fall is all too likely to kick in. Pangoro is a decent counter providing the proc doesn't happen, and of course it does just that on this attempt - Sitrus Berry recovery doesn't help Pangoro survive the second claw. Gengar (a very useful Pokemon at this point, with good powerful STABs and even some semblance of coverage) switches in and finishes the job by using its strongest move twice, I think it's Poison Barb-powered?

Sneasel is a new addition to Gladion's party, but doesn't strike very hard with its best move in Feint Attack. Because Metal Claw is so weak, my Ribombee can take the SE hit and OHKO with Bug Buzz (even if Sneasel is supposed to be somewhat specially bulky).

Nanu is supposed to be a highlight due to his place in the storyline but only disappoints. Sableye falls prey to Ribombee's Draining Kiss, Power Gem not hitting too hard since it's not mega-evolving (something they should've given the opposition in this game imho). Persian is cockblocked completely by any fighting-type, Pangoro with its double dark resistance especially, and its Fur Coat somehow doesn't prevent it from being OHKO'd by Brick Break (maybe bulbapedia is wrong and it's got Technician instead? you couldn't really tell by the weak power of that Fake Out). Krokorok just dies to my underlevelled Wishiwashi's Scald who may be having his last appearance here? I forget.

There's not a whole lot to say about Nanu, other than that I wish he were stronger.
