After Byleth finds Marianne being accused by a Crest Scholar about a Wandering Beast that appears every night, she learns about Marianne's Crest, which is said to be cursed. They enter a forest infested by Demonic Beasts, and they must take down the Wandering Beast in the forest area.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

This paralogue is available on all routes, and this is where we learn about Marianne's Crest, and it is a fog of war map filled with Demonic Beasts. You will want to bring some Torches for this paralogue, so that way you can see if there are any Demonic Beasts ahead, and some of them can poison your units.
The Crest of the Beast is otherwise known as Maurice's Crest, and Maurice was one of the heroes thought to have been erased from existence, much like how Byleth has the Crest of Flames, which was said to have not been seen 1000 years ago since the defeat of Nemesis. The Crest of the Beast has a chance of raising Mt by 5 when using a weapon, and the Crest item for the Beast is the Storm Dragon Sign, and even though Marianne's Crest is kept a mystery until this paralogue, you can get the Storm Dragon Sign and use Crest of the Beast earlier than intended on your other units.
Marianne will be placed away from your other units, and she is near the Wandering Beast, but he will not start attacking unless Marianne attacks him, but I wouldn't recommend doing so, and make sure Marianne is equipped with a Torch so she doesn't get attacked by any Demonic Beasts. I could go over items on this map, a Wild Demonic Beast can drop a Giant Shell, a Sniper and a Dark Bishop both have an Antitoxin each, a Bishop will drop a Hexlock Shield.
The boss of this map is the Wandering Beast, who has Crest Stone (Beast) for attacking, and he has Magic Bind to inflict silence on magic users, and the Wandering Beast will start attacking if any unit other than Marianne approaches the space he is at. The Anti-Magic Armor protects him from magic attacks when the barrier is up, and Heavy Strike is his Staggering Blow, it has a wide range and it inflicts rattled onto targets on contact. The Wandering Beast has a lot of Strength and HP, so I would recommend saving your Gambits for this guy, because he is really tough, of if you have any Combat Arts that deal bonus damage against monsters, you can break his barriers in one attack, or if you have a weapon like the Blessed Lance, that can work as well.
There are three Phantom Soldiers on this map, but on Normal Mode, there is only one, and it is the Bishop with Physic, the ones that appear on Hard are a Sniper and a Dark Bishop, and they will start moving when the Wandering Beast is provoked, and they drop items when defeated.
After that tough fight with the Wandering Beast, you get some rewards for completing this paralogue, you get a new Battalion called Edmund Troops, which give good boosts to HP, Charm, Strength, and Magic, and as Marianne does learn some ice spells, that Battalion can help with the accuracy of those spells. This Battalion requires B Rank in Authority, and the Gambit is Flash-Fire Arrows, which deals bonus damage to flying units and sets certain terrain in flames.
You also get a Hero's Relic called Blutgang, it is a magic sword that is tied to the Crest of the Beast, and as Marianne has that Crest, it will allow her to use Beast Fang, which deals bonus damage to cavalry and dragon units, and it has a higher critical hit rate. Blutgang does not have the extra range that a Levin Sword has, and this can be good if you want to have Marianne go into a sword-wielding class, like Swordmaster, Falcon Knight, or Mortal Savant, and she can get both Soulblade and Frozen Lance for Combat Arts, which deal magic damage, but for her best class options, Gremory or Holy Knight are preferred, but the downside to Holy Knight is less spells than Bishop, which does make Gremory a better class for Marianne, but with Holy Knight, she has Canto, allowing her to move after combat.
