In this video I show you how to fix NVIDIA control panel display settings missing or not showing up. This issue can prevent you from accessing any of the display settings. To fix the NVIDIA display settings not showing up issue on PC you will need to ensure your screens are plugged into your graphics card, rather than your motherboard. Typically, the motherboard ports will be on the back of your PC at the top, while the graphics card inputs will be at the back towards the middle or bottom. By connecting your monitor or screen directly to your graphics card you should get access to the display settings in the NVIDIA control panel. However, this doesn’t work then you can try using a DisplayPort to connect to your screen.

If the NVIDIA control panel settings are missing on laptop then it’s likely that your processor is being used rather than your dedicated graphics card. Fortunately, this can easily be solved using the appropriate laptop application to change your Mux Switch setting. Typically, the application comes installed on your laptop. For ASUS and ROG laptops you will need to use the Armoury Crate application, for MSI laptops you can use MSI Center, and for Acer laptops you can use the NitroSense app. Although the application that you’re using may vary, the general process will be the same or similar.

Once you have your laptop application open you will need to find the Mix Switch setting. Depending on your laptop the setting may be called GPU Switch or GPU Performance. When looking for the correct setting you will want to find mention of dedicated GPU, discrete GPU, or dGPU. These are the options that will use your dedicated graphics card instead of your processor.

To fix missing NVIDIA display settings on an MSI laptop you will need to open the MSI Center and go to the Features tab. Here you will see the GPU Switch setting, using the discrete graphics mode option or MS hybrid graphics mode will fix the issue.

Alternatively, if you have an ASUS or ROG laptop then you will need to open the Armoury Crate application and find the GPU Performance option. Typically, you can find this by selecting Home from the side the GPU Performance at the top. Once done you will want to select the Optimized mode to fix the missing NVIDIA control panel settings issue.

Once you have made the necessary changes to use your dedicated graphics card you will need to restart your laptop. Doing so will ensure the settings are updated and work correctly. After restarting you can open the NVIDIA control panel and access the display settings as normal.

If your laptop doesn’t have an application that you can use to change your Mux Switch settings, or you don’t have the option, then you may be able to change the Mux Switch setting in your BIOS. Your BIOS will vary depending on your laptop and motherboard, so you will need to look up how to do it for your specific laptop. However, you will need to be careful when making any changes in your BIOS to ensure you don’t cause any issues.

Alternatively, you can connect a second display to your laptop using an HDMI or DisplayPort cable. Once done you will need to set your second display as your primary monitor. You can do this by right-clicking on your desktop and selecting Display Settings. Here you will see your screens, typically the screen labelled 2 will be the new screen you have connected. Select the external screen then check the box to “Make this my main display”. Once done you should then be able to access the NVIDIA control panel and see the display and color settings. If you can’t then you will need to restart your laptop.
