In this video I’ll be showing you how to zoom in and out in CapCut PC. You can zoom in and out by adding scale and position keyframes to your clip. The scale allows you to increase or decrease the size of your video, zooming it in on the canvas. Meanwhile, changing the position allows you to adjust where you are zooming in to. For example, if you want to zoom in to the corner in CapCut then adjusting the position will allow you to do so. Additionally, this can be used to zoom in to a specific thing or detail on the screen.

You can find the scale and position settings by selecting the video you want to add the zoom effect on. Once done you will need to select Video then Basic from the panel in the top right of CapCut. Here you will see the scale, position, and other settings for your video. Clicking the diamond on the right of the settings will create a new keyframe.

To zoom in on CapCut PC you will need to create a scale and position keyframe where you want the zoom in effect to begin. Once done you will need to move forward a few frames on the timeline, then increase the scale and adjust the position as you want. Typically, you will want to move forward 10-20 frames for 30fps videos, or 20-40 for 60fps clips. The same process can be done if you want to zoom out in CapCut, however, you will need to decrease the scale instead. If you are zooming directly in or out of the centre then you don’t need to add position keyframes and instead can just adjust the scale.

To adjust the scale you have two options, you can move the slider in the Basic panel, or you can drag the corners on the clip in your preview. Both work well, it will typically just be preference. Additionally, you can adjust the position of your video by clicking and dragging on it in the preview. This way you can line it up as needed if you want to zoom in on a specific part of your video. This zoom effect is especially helpful if you’re editing a tutorial or gaming video to showcase key details in the video.

Depending on your purpose, you may want to zoom in then zoom back out in CapCut. This can be done by repeating the steps and creating a second set of keyframes. The first set will zoom in on your video, then the second set will zoom back out.

If you want to make a smooth zoom effect, then you can add an ease or curve to your keyframes. This will adjust how the zoom looks, making it smoother. To do this right-click on one of the keyframes on the video, then select Show All Presets. This will bring up a menu with all the preset curves that you can add to your zoom effect. I typically like to use the Cubic Ease preset as it makes a smooth zoom effect. You will need to add the keyframe preset to each of your keyframe sets if needed.

In some cases, you may find that your zoom is too slow or fast. If the zoom in effect is too slow then you will want to move the keyframes on the video track closer together. Meanwhile, if the zoom is too fast then you will want to move them further apart. When doing so the existing settings and curve will stay the same. However, they will be adjusted to the new keyframe position.
