The Starbound 1.3 navigation console system is very different to what we're used to. Solar systems are now seen from overhead, and contain dynamically orbiting planets, along with temporary anomolies, space stations and NPC ships.
This Let's Play Starbound 1.3 preview video checks out the new navigation console in its initial pre-release form, noting it's still a bit buggy and confusing. But we can already see how to fly to arbitrary, empty points in space as well as points of interest.
We then attempt to explore some of the new space stations, spatial anomalies and NPC ships, seeing how to deploy our mech into space, whereupon we can fly through the air through potential waves of aliens, use our mech drill arm to gather resources and fight enemies using our new mech blaster arm.
We discover a range of new resources to gather in this let's Play Starbound 1.3 preview video, finding salvage parts that will be good for building new mech components. We also explore the new space stations, noting they have the new Starbound 1.3 rail trams to get around, and that they can offer a quest to start building your own space station!
