Galaxian - Namco 1979 Arcade - Attract, Gameplay & Playthrough [4K60]
Full longplay / playthrough / walkthrough of one of Namco's earliest game Galaxian the classic 1970s space shooter. OK, so you can't actually finish Galaxian, the game is just endless wave after wave and to date it doesn't appear if there's a known kill screen or the score reset, should you reach the max possible score.
While Galaxian hasn't aged quite as well as its sequels Galaga and Galpus, it remains the first in what would be a successfully series for Namco. One of the earliest known arcade games to feature parallax scrolling, officially Namco credit it as the first game to use it, in Namco Museum Vol.3. Galaxian built on Space Invaders format using more colours, animations and effects.
The scoring system also has more depth with players awarded more points for taking down the enemies as they charge the player. Yellow invaders award the most and a bonus is given if you shoot one after directly taking down it's two red escorts, as all three dive at you.Footage taken from the Namco Japanese arcade release set 2.
Namco has since renamed the whole series the United Galaxy Space Force (UGSF) and even have a official website to it: https://ugsf-series.com/
