Mick and Mack: Global Gladiators was developed by Virgin Games USA and released in 1992.

Yes, it's a game based on McDonald's... as in the restaurant! Believe it or not it's actually one of several McDonald's games to come out in the early 90's and above that it's not even the only McDonald's game released on the Sega Genesis (McDonalds Treaure Land Adventure was developed by Treasure games and released in 1993)

Funny thing is neither game is bad and this one is worth picking up if you're a true Sega fan. Why? Well it was programmed by David Perry and the music was composed by Tommy Tallarico! The same guys who worked on Cool Spot, Disney's Aladdin and Earthworm Jim. These are all great games on the Sega Genesis with some of the best animation and music to be seen and heard on the console. This maybe one of their earlier games (it came before the others mentioned) but it still had animation with more frames than most any other platforming game on the console of the time and the music is great too! The gameplay ain't bad either. Fast controls and responsive, multi-directional shooting with unique trajectory physics make for a fun run 'n gun.

So the game has great animation, music and gameplay. Sounds like a 9 out of 10er right? Nope, the game is hurt by repetitive levels, a lack of worlds (only 4 unique worlds) and a lack of weapons as you really only have one weapon in the game. The game is fun to pick up and play but it does get boring after the first few levels and it doesn't take long to get through the games 4 worlds. This lack of content turns a great game into an okay game. It's not horrible, or even bad but only because everything else is so good! The animation and controls are some of the best for the system at the time and what few songs there are (only 1 song per world and only 4 worlds) are so great that the game is still well worth playing.

I say like all David Perry/Tommy Tallarico games on the system it's definitely one to pickup and since it's cheap there's no reason for any Sega fan to be without this one!
