I picked up a random Japanese Mega Drive game today. Mainly because it was cheap and you just don't see many Japanese Mega Drive games around here so of course I was going to grab it! Funny thing is though I had no idea what kind of game it was so it was fun to come home, pop it in my Genesis and find out. It also looks like the guy who had the game before me cut the back corners off the cartridge to make it fit in a stock Genesis. Remember you'll have to either cut the cartridge or the slot on the Genesis to make Japanese Mega Drive games fit and games from or after ~1992 still will not run without further modifications inside the Genesis (check my Japanese region mod video "JP/Eng Region Select Mod on Genesis" to see how)

Phelios is a vertical shooter released in the Arcades in 1988 and ported to the Sega Mega Drive (and possibly Sega Genesis) in 1990. The game is similar to other vertical scrolling shooters such as Dragon Spirit, a game also Developed by Namco and released a year earlier in 1987 but relies on Greek Mythology for the story, main characters and enemies. I'm not a huge fan of these games but I did play Dragon Spirit on the TG16 back in the day and this game is very similar. I think I could enjoy this one and it's not overly frantic like some shooters.
