Almost 2 years ago I posted a video of the Sega Genesis playing a WAV file recorded from the Japanese Saturn version of Tempo. The Tempo theme sounded neat but it was very repetitive. Later I found another WAV file of a BNL song that is not only less repetitive but I think it sounds better too. This is no doubt a better example of the Sega Genesis PCM audio at its best.

The sound engine that plays these WAV files was programmed by Tiido (TmEE) and the BNL song was ripped to the required specs and converted into a Sega Genesis BIN image by JoeRedifer of GameSack.

You can find more Genesis/Mega Drive code on Tiido(TmEE)'s website

The song is only ~2 minutes long but takes up a full 24 Megabits of storage on the cartridge! Compare that to a medium sized game like Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and the entire game is only 8 Megabits in size. Imagine that you could have THREE full Sonic the Hedgehog 2 games in the same amount of space this ~2 minute song takes up! Obviously it's not practical to use this quality of audio in a game, but this example is just here to show you what can be done when cartridge storage space is taken out of the equation.

The Song is called "Falling for the First Time" by the Bare Naked Ladies and is owned by WMG. My video is not for profit and this song was used for educational purposes as demonstrated.
