Released in 1993, Battlecorps is yet another game developed by Core Design that shows off what the SegaCD hardware was capable of.

Unlike most CD-ROM add-ons of the time, the SegaCD didn't just add CD-ROM storage, FMV and CD-Audio capabilities to the Genesis. While most games developers didn't take advantage of it, the SegaCD also added additional processing power like a custom ASIC video processor that added hardware based scaling and rotation to the Genesis. This game, like the other mentioned Core Design games take great advantage of these new capabilities.

Like Soul Star this one is exclusive to the SegaCD and if you're a fan of these first person mech battle games you'll probably like this game. I can't praise Core Design enough and while I'm not sure if they've done more games on the SegaCD, the three I've played (Soul Star, BC Racer and Battlecorps) all show off what the SegaCD hardware really added to the Genesis! Pick them all up if you're a fan of the SegaCD!

If you like what you see here I highly recommend you check out my video for SoulStar. I was blown away with SoulStar and I think it does an even better job showing what the SegaCD could really add to the Genesis!
