RNG in speedruns is highly frustrating, so here's a small trick that removes one major source of RNG from all God of War III glitched categories. (Works on PS3 too.)

The buffer for X button is a bit glitchy in all main God of War-games. It can be carried over retry with correct timing. If you buffer the X in a correct way, Kratos will always jump at the first possible frame after loading is over.

Instructions: open Select-menu and press X in quick succession (right before menu itself appears). After retry, Kratos should automatically jump.

This trick can be done elsewhere in the game too for almost guaranteed jumps at first frame after retrying, so it makes the Hades tug-of-war break-out easier too.

For doing this trick at regular checkpoints, it helps to have Kratos in block stance or Bow aiming when you press X. It's necessary that the X buffer cannot resolve through a normal jump... because if it does, it will not become carried over retry.

Also, the X can't be buffered during "in-game cutscenes" where regular input is not accepted, which limits doing this trick at some checkpoints.

0:31 - while testing this around, I also stumbled upon this extra glitch when you meet Helios. By buffering a jump, Kratos will break-out from the dialogue with Helios and the scene will no longer progress no matter what. Retrying fixes things.

(Note: tried the trick at Cronos checkpoint where Kratos is being held on the titan's fingers. But it seems to cause no effects there.)

(Note: buffering a jump has no effect if a checkpoint begins on climbing walls or during a vent ride.)
