Max Payne 3 - a quick look at Continue glitch (7-2) pt. 1
I recently discovered that Chapter 7-2 is another naturally occurring spot in this game where Continue glitch can be started!
However, this Continue glitch is less interesting than anticipated because its results are very similar to the classic Continue glitch (6-2). The differences and similarities are as follows:
- just like in (6-2), Max starts the game unarmed. However, in (7-2) it does work a little bit differently. The weapon wheel shows Max having a handgun, even though you can't use it at will. But when the going gets rough, like during Last Man Standing, he will take it out automatically, and after that you do have a gun.
- glitched weather and lighting effects are exactly similar to (6-2).
- if the Continue glitch should teleport Max, the coordinates are different compared to (6-2).
- in (7-2), the levels load around Max in a far more timely manner, preventing some glitch variations where Max falls out of bounds before the map has fully loaded.
- some results that lead to softlocks in (6-2) do not do that in (7-2).

My testing isn't comprehensive. Beyond the first two Chapters, I just picked up the Checkpoints that were previously inaccessible or seemed the most promising. So, here goes...
0:00 - Chapter 1-8. Lighting is glitched and Max is unarmed as the Checkpoint begins, resulting in the set piece being unwinnable.
0:17 - odd lighting effect when changing the camera around.
0:34 - Chapter 3-12. Max is on sniping duty and is supposed to cover Passos' ass. However, Continue glitch makes him start out of bounds, with the scope vision wavering like crazy. Also, this effect is lost and things return to normal if you do a manual retry from the Pause-menu.
1:18 - Chapter 3-13. Similar to Chapter 3-12, although Max is elsewhere out of bounds.
1:37 - Chapter 5-6. This is just a single example of Max teleporting to different coordinates than before, allowing him to explore a new out of bounds area. No idea where this is. All I know is that it's pretty... wet.
2:26 - Chapter 10-6. (Upon first loading the game, you get a retry / quit screen.) Afterwards the Checkpoint loads in slowly, and Max is some displaced location without a weapon. On a few attempts, I ended up at the abandoned bus yard or the gas station yard, i.e. near the start of the level. On one attempt Max also stayed in bounds with the level graphics unloaded.
4:30 - Chapter 10-7. This is another previously inaccessible Checkpoint.
(Upon first loading the game, you get a retry / quit screen.) Afterwards the Checkpoint starts with wrong weather and Max is unarmed. The set piece is unwinnable like this.
4:48 - Chapter 14-4. Similar to classic Continue glitch, but Max spawns to a different location, causing different crazy visual effects. This time Max tends to appear in the terminal area from the previous Checkpoint. The graphics in it are not drawn at all, so you are left wandering blind. The scenery looks pretty cool like this, though, with the wrong weather and a lot of black bar effect.
Alternatively, Max can spawn inside the Checkpoint 14-5 area, but no graphics are drawn there either. The situation may become better when Max descends down to the metro area.
Alternatively, Max may fall out of bounds.
