It has been FIVE YEARS since the GTX 1080 FE released, and we pit the Pascal high end GPU against the RTX 3080 in gaming and synthetic benchmarks. So just how much differnce has give years made, and just how BIG of an upgrade is RTX Ampere against GTX Pascal?
Of course, there is a significant difference in terms of raw specifications between the two graphics cards, but there are also very important feature adds from Nvidia. Things such as hardware based ray tracing, DLSS and much more have been added to the Ampere architecture in the years since the GTX 1080's release.
We pit the GTX 1080 vs the RTX 3080 in a series of performance benchmarks, both in games and synthetic benchmark results, to see just now big of an upgrade Ampere truly is. Just how much has Nvidia achieved in raw specifications and performance?
