Upsampling has become the name of the game for both console and PC, with AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution, or FSR, Nvidia's DLSS and of course Microsoft's own DirectML upsampling technology.
According to the new info that has surfaced today, DirectML upsampling will make a "big impact" on graphics and computing for both PC and Xbox Series X. This generation of consoles has been pushing high resolutions and frame rate pretty hard, alongside tech such as ray tracing which AMD brought to the RDNA 2 architecture. Upsampling, machine learning based or otherwise, is crucial to the future of gaming on PC, Xbox Series X and PS5 as resolutions go higher and gamers demand 4K 60 FPS and beyond in resolution and performance.
We dicuss how Microsoft's DirectML upsampling will REDEFINE both PC and Xbox Series X graphics, and of course the uses for DirectML beyond that.
