What’s your favorite holiday side?! cheesy sausage stuffing for me! #shorts
Stuffing is my honorable mention for GOAT of holiday foods! I mean I’m a prime rib guy through and through, so nothing takes that crown for me… but once you try this Cheesy Sausage Stuffing… you’ll see why I’m obsessed!
Ingredients:
• 8-10 cups of Sourdough bread cut into 1 in cubes
• 1.5-2 cups chopped white onion
• 1 cup chopped celery
• 1/3 cup chopped sage leaves
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 1 lb of mild Italian sausage
• 2-3 tbsp butter
• 1 cup of Pinot Gris
• salt and pepper
• 3/4 cup chicken stock
• 2 whole eggs plus one yolk
• 1.5 cups Half and half
• 3 cups of shredded Gouda or white cheddar cheese
Ingredients:
1. Start by drying our your cubed up Sourdough overnight. Give it atleast 6-8 hours!
2. The next day, preheat your oven to 300F. While that heats up, prep all your veggies.
3. In a large pan, heat up olive oil over medium heat, then add your sausage. Break it down and Let this cook until browned and cooked through which can take 5-7 mins.
4. Add the sausage to the dried bread cubes in a large bowl, then using the same pan, toss in the onion, celery, sage, and butter! Let this cook for about 19 minutes or until everything is softened and develops some color.
5. Add the white wine and let all the alcohol cook out over the next 4-6 minutes. The veggies should absorb all the flavor and then you can pull this out and add it to the bread and sausage.
6. Whisk together the eggs and chicken stock and add that to the bread mixture as well. Then carefully mix by hand!
7. Transfer to a large greased baking dish. Then add the half and half and 2 cups of the cheese. And mix until the half and half is absorbed and everything is mixed evenly!
8. cover and bake for 45 minutes, then top with the remaining cheese and broil for 5 minutes or until the cheese is starting to brown and crisp up!
