Horror JRPG Monark looked to be the next, new sleeper hit. Developed by Lancrasse and published by Furyu, the game had a lot of promise. It was headed by former Shin Megami Tensei developers and had a fresh take with its horror atmosphere.

While Monark had some great ideas, unfortunately a lot of them were poorly done. For every great thing the game did, the game did two bad things. Add enough negative things in a game and the JRPG goes from being pretty good to merely average. Or even an unenjoyable game.

Let’s see what this game is all about and why it fell short of being a good JRPG in our Monark review.
