This video will show you how I fixed this error that I encountered when using a cheap micro USB cable to try to connect my Android smartphone to my Microsoft Windows XP computer:
USB Device Not Recognized
One of the USB devices attached to the computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.
The location of the device is shown in bold type.
USB Root Hub (2 ports)
Unused Port
Unknown Device
Recommendation:
Try reconnecting the device. If Windows still does not recognize it, replace the device.
This cable was working fine without issue, then all of a sudden this error appeared. Disconnecting the device, reconnecting the device, none of these helped.
In the end, through use and wear, the cheap micro USB cable became defective. Replacing it with a higher-quality cable fixed the issue.
